ABOUT US

SAMMO SENIOR HIGH/COMMERCIAL SCHOOL-CAPE COAST CAMPUS & YAMORANSA CAMPUS.

The passion for quality education and human resource development primarily motivated the Managing Director, Mr Sammy Otoo to establish Sammo High School, Bakaano Campus (Cape Coast) in September, 1997. This noble idea was nurtured against the background of falling standards of education in the country following the mass exodus of teachers to the neighbouring countries.
The main focus was to provide ideal facilities and congenial atmosphere for the training of children particularly the unfortunate ones who could not qualify to some well-endowed schools in the country as well as brilliant but needy children.

TOGETHER WE ACHIEVE:

Our Mission

With a firm belief that education holds the key to locking the country’s social, political, economic and other related problems, the school emphasizes not only on excellent academic work but also moral, social and physical training of students. Indeed, the school thrives on discipline and holistic education that is capable of providing students with high self-esteem, independence; very articulate, knowledgeable, and a high sense of responsibility ready to rub shoulders with their counterparts anywhere in the world.

THE ESTABLISHMENT OF 2ND SAMMO SNR. HIGH SCHOOL AT YAMORANSA (SUBURB OF CAPE COAST)
The success story of the first school at Cape Coast was just amazing and this encouraged the director to open the second school with ultra-modern Boarding facilities to enhance learning at Yamoransa (a suburb of cape coast) in September, 2003/2004.

BOARDING FACILITIES
The schools can boast of excellent boarding facilities for over 1,200 students. Boarding life is an important ingredient in Great Sammosec. The School has Eight boarding houses - four for boys and four for girls. Each house has an average population of 90 students who are supervised by two house staffs. In the boarding houses students learn to live together with one another. Junior students learn from older students such things as washing, proper laying of beds, gardening and good table manners. Many are the lifelong friendships that have developed over the years between students of the same boarding houses.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES OR COURSES
The two schools offer the following programmes:
Pure Science,
General Arts (1, 2 & 3),
Visual Arts,
Business (1 & 2),
Home Economics/Science

REMEDIAL CLASSES
The first school at Cape Coast has a full-time department which runs ‘remedial classes’ for students who want to improve on their WASSCE results. The performance of the department over the past 11 years has been very phenomenal and every year the school admits over 300 students into the department. Hostel facilities are available.

STAFF
There are over 80 professional graduate & post graduate teachers. The secret of the huge success chalked so far has been the hard work of these dedicated teachers.

THE FUTURE
The future looks very bright for the two schools. Plans are far advanced to establish tertiary institution (university) to cater for the manpower needs of the country.

The door way to the great citadel of education!
